Alienated

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.
Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.
Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.
But when Cara’s classmates get swept up by anti-L’eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn’t safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara’s locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.
Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she’s fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.
My thoughts…
This book couldn’t have described a better way to imagine what would happen if aliens actually came to visit us. The only question is which side we would choose to be on.
I enjoyed reading this first book of the Alienated series so much that I dreamed about visiting an alien planet last night! Thank god I didn’t need to do any speech like Cara did. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had a clue, and Earth would be doomed.
Anyway, one thing I appreciate about the story is that there’s no instant love. Cara and Aelyx are both bound by the instructions of their higher authorities, and while they’re initially sceptical of each other, they still manage to interact cordially. Over time, as they get to know each other better and share experiences, their feelings for one another gradually develop.
By the way, if I could add something to this book, it would be a pronunciation page because I have a hard time pronouncing the alien words in my mind!
Now that I’ve shared my thoughts, I can’t wait to read how this intergalactic couple smoothes things out. How would Aelyx persuade the earthlings? What obstacles would Cara encounter in the alien world?
Until Midnight

Cara and Aelyx only have one day to spend together before he returns to earth and she travels to Aelyx’s home planet, L’eihr. Homesick and worried about the upcoming year apart, Cara is desperate to make these final hours count. Worst of all, Cara is missing Christmas, stuck on board an alien spaceship.
When Aelyx learns that Cara is forgoing her favorite holiday, he tries to recreate Christmas in space by researching traditional earth customs…but a few things get lost in translation.
My thoughts…
This short story follows Cara and Aelyx as they cherish their final moments before the separation. The Alien Boy makes a heartwarming effort to bring Christmas to life on the ship with the limited time they have left. How does it all come together? You’ll have to read it to find out .
However, if you’ve already read the first book, Alienated, and prefer to skip the four-chapter excerpt of the sequel, Invaded, and read from the main book itself, you’ll only need to read 30% of the total book length.
Invaded

Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.
Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding.
Yet, despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life. The Way clearly needs humans’ help but with what? And what will they ask for in return?
My thoughts…
This story picks up where it left off in Alienated and Until Midnight, sending Aelyx and Cara to each other’s worlds. I must admit that it was an engaging read. I thoroughly enjoyed Cara’s adventures in the alien world and was equally entertained by Aelyx’s tour of Earth.
The twist at the end was entirely unexpected, and I hate to say that I felt sorry for Syrine and the double heartache she had to endure. I wished things hadn’t unfolded that way, but the story had to continue. Personally, I can’t wait to see how Cara and Aelyx will make this alliance work and benefit them in the upcoming war in the next book.
My favourite scene in the story was when Vero finally started warming up to Cara. It was truly heartwarming .
United

After thwarting a deadly coup and saving the alliance between their worlds, Cara and Aelyx have finally earned a break. Their tiny island colony is everything they dreamed it would be―days spent gathering shells on the beach and nights in each other’s arms.
But the vacation is short-lived.
The treaty between Earth and L’eihr has awakened an ancient force that threatens to destroy them all. The Aribol, mysterious guardians charged with maintaining interstellar peace, deem the alliance a threat to the galaxy. They order a separation of the races, decreeing humans and L’eihrs must return to their own planets within the month or face extinction. In fact, they already have agents in place on Earth, ready to begin.
With the clock ticking, Aelyx and Cara assemble a team of colonists and race back to Earth, where they unite with old friends to solve the mystery of who the Aribol are, what they want, and the real reason the alliance has provoked them. As tensions build to a full-scale war, Aelyx and Cara must fight harder than ever―not just for their future but for the survival of both their worlds.
My thoughts…
We’ve reached the final book of the trilogy. The decision-making and heroic actions definitely centre around Cara and her team, so buckle up because we’re in for an adventure as they race to prevent the apocalypse.
When all hope seems lost, and they’re faced with an enemy far greater than the combined forces of two worlds, Cara and Aelyx refuse to give up or follow the Aribol’s orders. Instead, they fight to stay together.
I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to the series. Zane’s final gift adds a touching sweetness to the end. #Calyx
