Ignite

A deadly game of fire…
A guy… or two… who ignites her flame,
And secrets that threaten to burn her world to the ground.

Forced to move to Shadow Hill, Amalia comes face to face with wolves, vampires, and more mystery than she could have ever read about in her library.

There’s the gorgeous Julian Archer. He draws her in like a moth to a flame. But he’s keeping secrets — dark secrets that affect both of them.

Then there’s the hot, mysterious stranger, who saves her life from a wolf attack. Amalia is completely intrigued by him, but she’s unsure of his intentions.

As she learns more about herself and two age-old curses that involve her, she’s forced to decide if love is worth fighting for, or if she should just let things go up in smoke.

If you pick up this book without first reading the blurb, you’ll find yourself trying to unravel the mystery behind the Archer brothers, just as I did, and it’s intriguing.

I enjoyed reading about high school experiences because they allowed me to explore something so different from my background, especially the whole prom night with the crowning of King and Queen; it all seemed like a lot of fun.

Amalia is a decent character. At sixteen, she finds herself needing to start fresh in a new place with new people. She’s strong and brave enough to express her desires and take action.

As for the absent father storyline, I believe keeping his identity a secret will help for what comes next. I imagine he might be another supernatural being, which could further enhance Amalia’s power. I can only hope that’s the direction it takes since it often unfolds this way in other stories, and I like a badass character!

By the end of the story, several questions remain unanswered—the mystery persists, and my mind is busy trying to predict what will happen next. Why is protecting Amalia putting the brothers at risk?

What other secrets is Julian keeping? And on the romantic side, is Julian the right choice, or Dominic? Personally, I find myself leaning towards Dominic since the instant love trope feels a bit boring.

Who’s the Raven? What about Hex, the cat, and the mystery behind the closed door? Who is Jaden Bowers? What are they going to do about the curse? The story is interesting enough to entice me to read the next book and discover all the answers.

Burn

Their kiss is powerful enough to burn everything…

Amalia knew kissing the guy she’s fallen for would be dangerous, but she didn’t think it would be deadly. But now one of her friends is dead, and someone else is missing.

To make things more complicated, there’s a visitor in town who has everyone in Shadow Hill on edge.

Amalia’s goal is to stay alive and make sure no one she loves gets hurt, but that seems easier said than done.

This second book feels odd to me. I don’t enjoy this as much as the first book. Some plot points seemed rushed, like the handling of the Raven. The buildup was fine, but after enduring the entire spell process and consuming the dreadful concoction, Amalia was left to attend to the injured wolf while Sienna dealt with the Raven.

I understand we get to see how special Amalia is, but I also want to witness the Raven’s ‘freezing’ process. Additionally, I’m curious about what happened to the wolf. Who is he, and where he is now?

I’m also wondering about Max, whom Amalia sent to her house after telling him to use Ben as a nickname. He stopped by, but what happened to him afterwards?

In the story, the loyalties and motivations of some characters remain unclear, and I’m a bit confused by all the forgetting spells and memory alterations that Sienna performed.

I have no idea where this story is headed. I guess I’ll need to wait for the final book and see if everything connects. Who was the imposter claiming to be Cyrus? Was it Jaden or Amalia’s father? Will he come into the picture? What will be the conclusion of Amalia’s story?

Scorch

When Amalia erased the town’s memories, she erased her own, too.

When her memories come flooding back, she realizes how much trouble she’s in.

On top of the fact that she’s marked for death after looked a shiftling in the eyes, the world’s most powerful vampire is after her.

Amalia’s life becomes a game of wondering which will kill her first.

Torn between two guys, her entire world is about to come crashing down all around her unless she figures things out fast.

While the story showed promise, I can’t rate it four or five stars due to some disappointing elements. With just over 650 pages in total, I guess the trilogy is too short to thoroughly explore certain plotlines, which results in some being left unresolved or underdeveloped.

I found myself wishing there had been more nuance and complexity. For instance, what happened to Hailey? She appears to vanish after completing her role in bringing Amalia one step closer to death.

The same goes with Sienna. Does she regain her soul? And what happens to Jaden? Does he die, and if so, is he successfully brought back to life by someone?

I’m also still thinking about what was behind the locked door that Hex, the cat, wanted Amalia to unlock. Above all, what was the concoction that Amalia consumed from the fake Cyrus?

The trilogy might have been much better if the author had taken the time to go into greater detail about the plotlines and character developments.

That said, I did appreciate the authors’ effort in writing the story. I also liked Amalia’s choice of partner; I had a feeling about it 😉. I guess because I read The Siren’s Lullaby just before this series.

If you’re seeking a quick, uncomplicated read and enjoy supernatural elements, give this trilogy a try.
