Paradox
Never in a million years would I ever fall for the son of a drug lord. Or so I thought until I moved two doors down from Jett.
Zara thought her life was over when she had to move just days before graduation. The situation goes from bad to horrible when she discovers just how cruel the kids at her new school can be.
When Zara is set up by some bullies and almost raped, she somehow gets free, but she’s haunted by the eyes of the one she believes rescued her.
Later, bad boy Jett is only too willing to step in and help. In fact, Zara can’t seem to get rid of him or his family, who all seem to have a strange obsession with her.
Will letting down her guard be one of the biggest mistakes of her life, or is Zara destined to become a part of his life, an existence that no human could ever understand?
**Paradox is an upper YA novel. It contains mild drug use, language and sex.**
My thoughts…
I have had this series sitting on my Kindle for years, so when I started reading this book, I didn’t check on the synopsis, and I found myself guessing all the way and only got the answer about 20% before this first book ended. Good torture 😂.
I’ll say Zara’s feelings over Jett are typical of a teenager’s feelings, and the author captured and wrote it splendidly. However, I was not too fond of Lily’s plot and how quickly Zara accepted the explanation. It would be much better to cut short the romance and maybe put more scenes in the last part of the story.
P/S: I had never heard of Schoolies, and I learned something new in this book. Thanks, Kelly!

Dating the son of a drug lord was bound to be complicated. Besides the obvious, Zara’s boyfriend, Jett, is also an alien, and she’s a half-breed still coming to terms with what that actually means. Thrown into a life where the human rules don’t apply, she meets surprise around every corner. The world that humans live in is not what it seems.
As if that weren’t bad enough, Jett also has alien enemies—one’s that are hell-bent on making him pay for what he’s done on his father’s order. But these enemies aren’t after him. They’ll take their revenge on the ones he loves.
Caught up in a battle between the rival families, Zara will finally get to see what makes Jett a Royal and why she’s acquired a Royal entourage.
My thoughts…
From the beginning of the story to the end, we’re never too far from the lovey-dovey couple. With this book being shorter than the previous one, I feel like romance takes up the whole story. I loved to read more about scenes involving actions such as Zara discovering her talent, practising and fighting off the bad guys.
Another thing is that I find it hard to accept the way Zara treats her friends. She was so excited about her cousin and friends visiting her for schoolies in book one, but she didn’t spend much time with them once they arrived.
The last revelation is kind of cool. Now that I know what they must deal with in the next book, I can’t wait to jump into the fantastic world and see how the story pans out. Hopefully, I’ll get to read Zara contributing to the team with her incredible half-breed power.
Traffick
Learning the ropes of the family business was an idea Zara had never entertained. But after Jett and Zara bond, she finds her humanity slowly slipping away as she accepts her place in the family. Her two worlds seem almost impossible to cohabit, especially when her friends are at risk.
Bartoli is still on the loose, and the Lomazzos know it’s only a matter of time before he makes his next move, and someone will pay the ultimate price. After all, an eye for an eye is the way it has always been done.
The Lomazzos must put an end to him before it’s too late. Only, it may not be that simple when Zara discovers that someone’s been hiding a secret that will change everything.
My thoughts…
No, I wouldn’t say I like it when someone dies, especially someone innocent. Also, Zara and Jett still can’t put their hands down. Please, I need more actions than romance. The revelation was what I liked in this book; it’s shocking.
From an outsider’s view, Roman is an evil man and selfish, keeping the ‘good stuff’ for his family members to be influential, no matter what the reason behind 😆. One more book to go for the finale! I hope Jenna is getting her hybrid too, why not? Maybe Roman has one in stock 🤣.
Enigma
One month ago, Zara didn’t know aliens existed, and now, she is not only one of them, but she is their royal; standing at the front line, fighting against the slavery of the human species.
Half-breeds are a delicacy, and those in charge will do anything to stop the Lomazzos from ending their reign and the chance of owning a half-breed of their own.
Lives will be lost, and others used as bait; the Lomazzos will discover a secret that none of them saw coming—A secret that might be the end of Zara and Jett, or might be the very thing that gives them the ability to cripple the alien species.
My thoughts…
I’ve read the other series by Kelly and found similarities about how either the mum or dad doesn’t portray a good example. It’s disturbing and an easy excuse for the author to get the teenager to be on their own (true to the Severed Wings series) and avoid further complications so that the characters can stay focused on the new life they’re destined for.
The above statement is based on the idea of the story’s beginning before we finally get the explanation. As for a review of this book, this one is my favourite. It’s action-packed, full of surprises and new revelations. Just one request tho, to have a prologue and find out more about Zara’s father.
