Protector
Love. Honor. Protect.
As an Environmental Studies major, Allie knows the planet is in trouble – a series of natural disasters recently rocked the northern hemisphere, and species across the globe are going extinct.
What Allie doesn’t know is that her world’s decline is a casualty of an ancient battle called the Night War – the Norse goddess Nott’s crusade to control the weakest of the light realms. And Allie most definitely doesn’t know that her existence is the only thing stopping Nott from dragging the earth into total darkness.
When four gorgeous guys show up claiming to be Allie’s Asgardian protectors, she thinks they’re delusional. And when they order her to hunt down the pieces of an immortal weapon, she’s convinced they’re insane. But when Allie’s attacked, the guys’ crazy stories of demigods and dark elves begin coming together. And Allie’s not sure what scares her more – losing her life to the Goddess of Night . . . or losing her heart to one of her protectors.
Let the hunt begin.
My thoughts…
Allie thought she was an ordinary human with a knack for reading and feeling people’s energy. But when she felt an inexplicable pull towards an old pendant in an antique shop and bought it, that seemingly insignificant decision changed her life forever. Four strangers soon appeared in her college, informing her that her life was in danger and that she was essential in saving the world from destruction.
Allie had no idea how she would do it, but as she embraced the truth about her hidden past and responsibility, her faithful protectors stood by her side and helped prepare and protect her throughout her challenging quest. Love will find its way, and friendship and bond will form between them.
Despite the fantastical elements of the story, the authors make it believable by having Allie resist and challenge what she’s told, rather than simply accepting it, just like in real life. She is also learning slowly rather than immediately turning into a badass warrior.
This mythical story of Norse gods, goddesses, warriors, and powerful villains will take you to an exciting world of fantasy and adventure, giving you a much-needed break from reality. You will also learn a bit of the Scandinavian language 😉.
Defender
Allie Rydell left her life behind to protect the world from the Goddess of Night. But after weeks of training, hunting, and learning to use the life-giving power that inexplicably chose her, saving Midgard seems more impossible than ever.
Nott’s followers have eyes across the realms, and they’re determined to collect the bounty on Allie’s soul. And the closer Allie and her protectors get to the pieces of the immortal weapon that could save them all, the more destruction Nott manages to unleash — not only on the world Allie loves, but on the friends she’d give her life to save.
Darkness is coming. And this time, it won’t leave any survivors.
My thoughts…
The quest to gather the remaining pieces of Allie’s weapon, Gud Morder, is ongoing. Without the instrument, Allie and her protectors won’t be able to kill the Goddess of Night, Nott, and break the curse of the Night Sleep that befell her mother.
Try as they may, Nott’s follower always seems to know their movement, suggesting that there is a mole in Asgard. On top of that, one of Allie’s protectors has been kidnapped, and the team must go to Nott’s lair for rescue, even though they know it’s a trap.
I love the unexpected twist in this story. The world-building is so detailed and intricate that I felt like I was right there with Allie and the other protectors. Every character has their own unique personality and complexities that made me connect with them. However, I do wish Allie could grow a little more mature.
One of my favourite parts of the book is the pets; Scarlet and Killer are both so lovable, and I’m so excited to see where the story takes them. Lastly, I can’t wait to read the conclusion and how they finally getting their well-deserved vacation in Bora Bora. Oh, and Allie, please don’t forget to tease Johann with his nickname 😉.
Redeemer
Hunt down the weapon pieces, destroy the night goddess, protect Midgard (Earth). That was always the mission…
When an unexpected sacrifice turns Allie’s world on its head, she discovers her true function within the Asgardian world. Her new purpose has much higher stakes — and significantly bigger dangers — than she ever could have imagined.
And as the Goddess of Night unleashes an unparalleled wave of fury across the realms, Allie’s dream of a peaceful future with her favorite protector all but disappears.
Nott’s determined to control Midgard. But Allie has more to fight for than ever before, and she’s determined to end the Night War… no matter what it costs her.
My thoughts…
Allie still has three more pieces of Gud Morder to look for before she faces her final battle. After that, she has to decide whether to kill Nott or if she is worth saving. Can she also restore Ophelia’s memory and give Tore his happy ending? With so many tasks awaiting in this final book, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the ride!
I think the face-off between Allie and Nott isn’t hard compared to book two. It finishes way too soon. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed Allie’s journey from the first book to this last one. Allie has slowly turned into a badass warrior whilst giving me the pleasure of visiting the different realms.
The realms are beautiful, well, some of them, and it’s magical. I also love the friendship form between the team, not forgetting the dragons. Reading about their challenging journey is worth the time and effort, as it will transport you to a magical realm of adventure and discovery.
