Rose’s Boys

Rose Hallowell has magic, and her boys do not. Their parents work for hers. But she can’t imagine life without her rambles around her estate with brilliant Kyler, stoic Seth, passionate Jin, daredevil Damon, and Gabriel, whose self-assured charm brought them all together. Despite their differences and the secrets Rose has to keep, the bond between the six of them has been unshakeable since they were kids.

Now, as Rose and her boys tumble into their teens, the dynamic of their friendship is changing in ways both unnerving and enticing. Ways Rose’s strict new stepmother would never approve of. With the restrictions of witch society tightening around her, will Rose be torn from everything she holds dear forever?

My thoughts…

Rose’s Boys is a short story of the prequel to the Witch’s consorts series. Readers will learn about what happened during Rose’s teenage life. Upon finishing the story, readers will feel the urge to immediately check out the next book and discover what will become of Rose when she grows up and the challenges she will face.

An evil stepmother with stepsister? My immediate thought was Cinderella! There’s also a reference to Narnia in the story. Besides the engaging premises, we have the main element, magic and last but not least, forbidden romance! How will Eva mould the story together? I can’t wait to find out, and I am confident that the series will be interesting!

Consort of Secrets

Every witch knows the rules:

Stick to your own kind. Never reveal your powers to outsiders. Take a consort from the witching families or kiss your magic good-bye forever.

For years I’ve been quiet, obedient Rose Hallowell. I accepted the man my stepmother chose for me. But I never stopped missing my long-ago friends.

Now we’re back on my childhood estate to arrange my marriage. The boys I grew up with? They’re still in town—and they haven’t forgotten me either. And damn if they haven’t grown up well.

They’ve got no magic, no place in my life. But they’re charming and sweet and infuriatingly hot, and I can’t seem to stay away. The more I try to resist, the more secrets I uncover about my family, my betrothal, and everything I thought was true about the witching world.

I’ve been lied to. I’ve been betrayed. So to claim my magic and my happiness, I’ll break every rule there is—and then some.

Don’t mess with this witch. Every rose has thorns.

My thoughts…

This first book is fast-forwarded 11 years after the prequel, where Rosalind Hallowell is back in the estate. But it didn’t touch the subject of what happened during the 11 years Rose was away in Portland.

Rose’s stepmother is planning something to ruin Rose’s life. The story’s main plotlines are the mystery of what it could be, how Rose will tackle the issue, and getting to know more about Damon Scarsi, Kyler Lennox, Seth Lennox and Jin Lyang’s life.

The story was interesting enough that I wanted to read the whole book in one go! But, because it was getting past my bedtime, I forced myself to put down my kindle just after 50% and continue the next night. The sneaking off, breaking in, and the last part when they did the ceremony were nerve-wracking!

Consort of Thorns

No more quiet, obedient Rose Hallowell. Every witch knows the rules—and I’ve broken them all to save myself and win my happiness.

I thought my troubles would be over once I had my magic and my men by my side. Apparently, I was a little too optimistic. My stepmother left me with a seed of doubt I can’t shake. I may have more enemies in my home than I ever imagined.

My guys say they’ll do anything for me, but they couldn’t have been prepared for the twisted secrets of the witching world. Or for an old friend to unexpectedly show up in town, with who knows what complications for our newfound connection.

The thorns are closing in around us. Will my unpracticed magic and my consorts’ love be enough to guide us through?

My thoughts…

Rose’s stepmother is gone from her life, but the seed of doubt has been planted in her mind. Was her father a part of the scheme or only her stepmother’s doing? Were the parents doing the right thing, or was there a reason behind their actions?

With Gabriel back in their group, one of the consorts seems unhappy, but most of them are happy to have their leader back. However, Gabriel appears reluctant to be a part of the consorts. What would be the reason behind it?

This is the first time I read about the quick bonding between female and male characters in books by Eva Chase. Normally, they only reunite towards almost the end of the story. It makes me wonder if the team will break apart at some point since we still have a long journey to go. Or the group may face tough challenges that require a strong bond this early, and there’s still one thing they can perform, the soul bond!

Consort of Pain

I’ve overcome the odds to claim my magic and the five men I’m not supposed to love. Then, just when I think we’ve finally found peace, our lives are turned upside down by a life-shattering threat.

If our enemies succeed, we’ll be dead by tomorrow. But they’ve never fought Rose Hallowell before. Even I haven’t discovered the limits of my powers yet. I just wish I could be sure that my magic will be enough. I can’t summon it alone, and the more energy my consorts offer me, the more pain I could cause them.

Can I find new allies to help us win the day—or will we be betrayed all over again?

My thoughts…

One hell of a ride!

The story picks up where it left off in the second book. After the stunt that Rose pulls over her father, Rose is captured, along with her consorts. Taken away and questioned in a separate room, could they survive the mental prod? Will Rose be strong enough to protect her consorts? The assembly will not stop unless Rose can find something that could serve as leverage between the two factions.

An exciting read with plenty of heart-racing moments, stunts, and twists. The Cliffhanger in this book ain’t strong enough to make me jump right to the next book. That’s a good thing, right, because then I’ll be able not to continue reading it but catch some good night’s sleep first, after the whole running for your life dramas!

Consort of Fire

I’ve been through a lot with the five men who were never supposed to be mine. Now we’ve uncovered a conspiracy in the witching community even more horrifying than I could have imagined.

I might have sworn an oath to keep my silence, but I’ll find a way around it, or my name’s not Rose Hallowell. Too many witches have been hurt for us to just stand by.

It’s time to fight fire with fire. But when I start to draw on the darkness within, it might not be just our enemies who get burned…

My thoughts…

Rose and the Frankford witches have sworn to stay away from each other. But, truthfully, there is always a loophole for the oath they both agreed to, and the Frankford witches will not leave Rose alone to enjoy her life. Rose may have to be ruthless to win the battle, and her consorts may not feel comfortable with her.

Gabriel’s act and the reason behind it didn’t surprise me. I saw this coming from miles away 😁. Reaching the end of the story, I’m glad things are finally ‘almost’ looking good for the team, and I can’t wait to read the final challenge and how Rose and her consorts played their part in the last obstacle.

Consort of Light

In the last few months, I’ve faced more danger with the five men I’m not supposed to love than most people encounter in a lifetime. And it’s not over yet. Our enemies have unleashed a threat greater than anyone in witching society could have believed possible.

How do I fight back when we’re up against forces that could destroy our entire world? I wasn’t prepared for this. But the monsters we’re taking on are about to find out that Rose Hallowell doesn’t give up. Even if it means asking more of my consorts than I hoped I’d ever need to.

I have to believe we can come through the darkness into the light. All I know for sure is there’s no turning back now.

My thoughts…

Finally, it’s an easy start for the team, without anyone hunting them down and only concentrating on finding a solution to defeat the demon on the loose.

Ever since the first book, I’ve been wondering why Rose’s dad is acting that way, and I finally get the answer in this book. Overall, story-wise, it’s a lovely idea. But I did skip many of the pages during Rose recharging her spark session and moved on with the story 😅.

Mark of Damon

The demons within are the hardest to defeat…

This was supposed to be our happily ever after. We beat our enemies, fended off an invasion of monsters, and returned home safe. For the past year, the love of my life and the four guys who’ve also become her consorts have been settling into a new, much more peaceful normal.

Me? I can’t take it that easy. In the final battle, the fiend we faced off against left a scar I can’t ignore. It’s come with the unshakeable memories of the pain we all went through and how much we lost… and possibly more than that. As the mark’s unearthly energy starts to leak out, I’m finding ways to wield it.

Rose deserves a guy who can offer more than a broken childhood and a small-time criminal history. I’d give anything to make something magical out of the wounds I’ve been dealt. But the demons never give without taking in return. Can I master the power they left me with before it masters me instead?

*Mark of Damon is a 135-page novella and the sixth book in the Witch’s Consorts series, told mainly from Damon’s point of view. Reunite with Rose and her guys as they confront one final supernatural threat and discover exactly what kind of family they’re going to be.*

My thoughts…

The book picks up after the event in the final book, where Damon sustained an injury from the last showdown with the demon. Now the demon is trying to find a way out again thru him.

Ever since the first book we read about him, Damon has been a complicated character. He has a temper, unlike the other Rose’s consorts. I’m glad he finally has a nice closure in this novella.
