Tempting the Billionaire
BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?
Crickitt Day needs a job . . . any job. After her husband walks out on her, she’s determined to re-build her life and establish a new career. When swoon-worthy billionaire Shane August hires her as his assistant, she jumps at the chance to prove herself. Despite her growing attraction to her boss, she vows to keep things strictly professional. No flirting. No kissing. Definitely no falling in love…
Shane August is all business, all the time. He’s a self-made man who’s poured his heart and soul into his company, and he’d never allow himself to get involved with an employee. Then he hires sweet, sexy Crickitt-and he can’t keep his mind or his hands off her. But no matter how much he wants Crickitt, Shane fears that painful secrets from his past will always come between them. With fate working against them, can these two lonely hearts learn that sometimes mixing business with pleasure is the perfect merger?
My thoughts…
All Crickitt had wanted was a job after her divorce from his nine years husband whose an asshole. However, luck was on her side. Not only does she land a personal assistant job that pays high, but she also works for the good-looking billionaire boss, Shane.
I first read the story from ‘Chapters,’ the interactive choices book format. However, I found out that the storyline wasn’t the same. The way they first met, her previous job, and some other details about her husband were different. I loved this book more than that version, though.
This series wasn’t the usual genre I read – Paranormal. There’s nothing supernatural in the story but romance, heartache, and insecurity combined in this beautiful light-reading book. The storyline was predictable – The male always needs something to move forward. I loved the main character’s name though, it’s unique and catchy, Crickitt eh, like the insect? 😂.
“From partners in business to partners in life.”
Shane
Can’t Let Go
Sadie Howard would never admit there’s such a thing as love at first sight, but she can’t deny the connection between her and sexy Adonis Aiden Downey. She also can’t deny she loves to kiss him-his mouth might be his most precious asset.
Despite every promise to herself not to get involved any deeper than a first date, she can’t keep from seeing more of Aiden . . . in more ways than one.
Aiden Downey had no idea the hot blonde from the club would trigger his protective, gentle nature, but the moment she drops her guard and he sees the real Sadie Howard, he’s a goner.
When a family crisis puts the brakes on their budding romance, can Aiden find a way to hold on to her? Or will he lose the best thing in his life just as quickly as he found her?
My thoughts…
I’ve known Sadie as Crickett’s best friend and Aiden as Kane’s cousin from book one, Tempting the Billionaire, and aware of what’s happening between them. So, nothing was surprising in this short story, but more depth on emotion and getting me closer to these two love birds.
Their story was only for about 66% of the book, and the remaining was the first chapter of Hard to Handle book and Tempting the Billionaire. It wasn’t necessary to read this short novella, but if you already have the book, then go ahead, and get to know them better before reading the main story.
Hard to Handle
ONCE BURNED Sadie Howard never dates a guy more than once-but Fate has other plans for her when it comes to Aiden Downey, the one that got away.
Aiden loved her, left her, and broke her heart. Yet suddenly she’s bumping into him at every turn, driven to distraction by his wicked grin and rock-hard body. Now she can’t resist finishing what they started-as long as she doesn’t let herself fall in love…
TWICE AS TEMPTING Aiden Downey threw away the best thing he ever had when he let Sadie go, and now he’s determined to win back the woman he’s always wanted.
Sadie agrees to let him into her life—and her bed—as long as there are no strings attached. But Aiden’s not about to make the same mistake again. Can he convince her to take a second chance on a once-in-a-lifetime love?
My thoughts…
There’s plenty of repetition in this story about how they both felt. Sometimes, I got bored reading about it and skimmed it to finish the book. The storyline was touching, especially what Aiden did to her mother and all the sacrifices he’d made – he was a good man.
Meanwhile, Sadie was a complete bitch for being selfish, I disliked her, especially when he rejected Aiden’s proposal in front of the audience, and also the moment where she ruined Aiden’s proposal dinner plan, not that she knew though, but still…she’s an indecisive lady.
The Millionaire Affair
LOVE IS A DEAL BREAKER . . .
Millionaire ad executive Landon Downey has a policy: no romantic relationships allowed. So when he’s saddled with his six-year-old nephew for a week, he doesn’t think twice about asking Kimber Reynolds to act as live-in nanny.
What he doesn’t expect is the undeniable attraction to the woman he hasn’t seen since they were kids. And not only does she like him back-she suggests they work their way down a list of extracurricular activities in the bedroom. How can he resist?
Kimber wants to prove once and for all that she can love ’em and leave ’em with the best of them. All she has to do is keep her sixteen-year crush on Landon out of the equation. No problem . . . until she realizes she may not be the only one whose heart has gotten completely tangled up in their no-strings agreement!
My thoughts…
Simple, short and fun read!
I’ve read the first two books in the series before reading this book, and safe to say that you didn’t need to read the first two books because it wasn’t closely related. It took me a while to remember who’s Landon from the previous book, and the connection between them!
The heroine was daring while the hero needed some help from alcohol for the HEA to come true. The story was only about 80% of the book, and the remaining was an excerpt from books 1 & 2 plus a bonus newsletter from other authors.
If you love Even and Lyon from this book and would like to get closure to their story, read Bringing Home the Bad Boy, the first book from the Second Chance Series.
