Where do Asian Manchester United fans go when they travel to Manchester? Well, they can either watch a match or go to the museum and stadium tour.
I admit that I was not into football before I met Mike. But he has always been a United fan and therefore, he took me on the tour to educate me on the history and also explore the stadium.
We had our lunch at Kabana while meeting with Mike’s mate Eamon and then we took Metrolink from the city zone to Old Trafford for £2.80. The tram stopped just next to Lancashire County Cricket Club on Warwick Road, and we walked for about 10 minutes to the stadium.
We purchased the tour ticket at the counter @ £18.00 per person, and while we were waiting for the tour to start at 2.10 pm, we wandered around the three-storey museum. I was amazed by the number of trophies they have won since the club was established.
The Hall of Fame list contains a very long list of the player’s names from 1886 to the current year.
They also have a board dedicated to the Officials and players who lost their lives in the Munich air disaster on the 6th February 1958; I felt saddened by what I read.
We met our guide at the meeting point and together with the rest of the participants, the guide briefed us on the programmes and also the rules and regulations. Our guide looks like Januzaj and I wanted to take a picture with him but I didn’t have the courage to ask 😂.
During the tour of 80 minutes, we get to walk around the massive stadium from one side to the other. We walked through the Munich tunnel and visited the Press theatre, dressing room and player’s lounge before we emerged to the field by the player’s tunnel.
We also had the opportunity to sit on the manager’s benches before exiting through the Megastore and have our certificate printed at the customer service desk.
Overall, I enjoyed the tour. It was fun, informative and memorable.
