    Cousin Wedding in Sabah

Back again in the land below the wind, this time to attend my cousin's wedding. It's a traditional Dusun wedding, and I brought back some fruits called Bulunu and Timadang/Tarap to Penang.

    The Land Below the Wind

The distance between Kuching and Kota Kinabalu is about 805km, and I’ve read a blog about driving from the said destination, and it takes about 26 hours! So far, I haven’t heard anyone mentioning about a public bus. But I heard there’s a bus from Kuching to Brunei and from Brunei to Kota Kinabalu. If you feel like passing your time, then you are welcome to try it out, but if you come for other reason and want to save your time, my advice is to take the flight. It only takes about an hour twenty minutes. After the trip to Kuching, we didn’t go straight to Kota Belud, my hometown.…

    Gayu Guru, Gerai Nyamai

Harvest festival in Sarawak known as Gawai Dayak, an annual celebration celebrated on every 1st & 2nd June. It’s similar to Kaamatan; the festival celebrated in Sabah on every 30th & 31st May. In this trip, we will be joining the Sarawakian celebrating their Hari Gawai.  It is always exciting to be part of any celebration. The flight time from Penang to Sarawak was two hours five minutes. We had booked our bus tickets from Kuching going to Sri Aman. However, Madam Chong and Peter were also heading back to Sri Aman for the Gawai festival, so they offered us a ride. Before we left for Sri Aman, we stopped…

    Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium

Yesterday, when we visited Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, we drove past Chiang Mai Zoo. And since we didn’t have any plan for today, we decided to visit it. The Zoo was established in 1977 and situated in the foothills of Doi Suthep. The whole place covered in the land of 200 acres. Hence, it’s a great place to do some walking exercise. But if you are not up for it, there’s also a golf car for rent at the cost of 350 Baht for the first hour and 300 Baht the next hour. The entrance fees combined for both places are 520 Baht per person. Here are some of…

    Chiang Mai The New City

Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand with its population of about half a million. Located 700km from Bangkok, there are three options to reach to this place, bus, train or by flight. The cheapest option is by Bus with the fare about 400-600Baht. However, I’m not sitting on a bus for 10 hours journey unless there’s no other option. And since flight and train are a much comfortable way of travelling, we opted for it. Our flight touched down Chiang Mai International Airport after an hour and fifteen minutes journey. The moment we stepped out from the airport, my nostrils assaulted by the smell of a campfire…

    Eating and Drinking in Bangkok

We flew from Penang to Don Muang at 15:05 (Malaysia time) and reached 15:40 (Thailand time). This time we stayed at Trinity Silom by Zinc for two nights before leaving to Chiang Mai. While we were in Bangkok, we went to Molly Malone and met up with Mike’s mate, Trev. Besides eating and drinking for two days here, we didn’t do any sightseeing. On the 22nd Mac, we arrived at Bangkok station from Chiang Mai at 6:40 am. Since we had plenty of time to kill before we were allowed to check in at the Ambassador Hotel, we went to Chatuchak Market to get a Chiang Mai’s fridge magnet which I’ve…

    Phu Quoc Island

For our last honeymoon destination, we went to Phu Quoc island, the most prominent island in Vietnam. You can either fly (60 minutes) from Ho Chi Minh or by Ferry (90 minutes) from Ha Tien (320km from City). We chose to fly with Vietjet. However, our flight delayed for about 2 hours, and by the time we reached our gaff, it was almost 6 pm. We stayed at Dong Xuan Hong Guesthouse for four nights. The room designed as a tiny house and it’s spacious on the inside. However, it’s not soundproof so, if you are a light sleeper, you won’t be able to get a good night sleep. Later…

    The Honking Heaven

Ho Chi Minh is the noisiest city I’ve ever been to, not a minute past that my eardrums were at ease from perpetually honking by the car and motorcycles. I started hearing it the moment I stepped out from the airport until I finally reached the hotel. I’ve never experienced anything like it before, the sea of motorbikes on the road coming from everywhere, without really obeying the traffic, I was surprised I didn’t see any accident throughout our stay there. We stayed at Grand Silverland Hotel from 24th until 27th December 2014. The hotel’s location is perfect, and it’s only about 250 metres away from Ben Thanh Market. This…

    The Maldives of Thailand

Koh Lipe is the island that you must visit if you do not have the budget to Maldives. Located 42km from Langkawi, journey by Speedboat from Telaga Harbor only takes approximately 90minutes. Upon reaching to a floating platform not far from Pattaya beach, you start seeing the reason why they refered this place as Maldives. I was mesmerised by the view and almost forgotten to take my backpack with me before continuing our ride to the shore with a long tail boat. We stayed for three nights at Bhundaya resort located on Pattaya beach. The resort is about 200 metres away from the Walking Street. You will be able to…
